Jon Stewart was back The Daily Show last night recounting the “October Miracle” that could affect the upcoming presidential election. The host of the night noted that anything was possible, but it probably wouldn’t be good, as he has a bad reputation Come to Hollywood tape.
“Why are October miracles always so bad?” he said. “Why don’t we ever get the wonderful October surprise that brings our country together?” He added that for some reason these last-minute revelations or events seem to benefit Republicans over Democrats.
“If the monkey attacks, I don’t see how we can lose!” Stewart said. “What does it really mean for the party that wars, strikes, and natural disasters support them? ‘Sir, the elections are near, but if we just make people panic and panic, we can do it.’
The biggest surprise of October so far, for Stewart, has been Elon Musk showing up to Donald Trump’s rally over the weekend. “His October miracle is that he came out of MAGA,” Stewart said before showing a clip of Musk claiming to have “cultivated MAGA.”
“Ooh, dark Maga,” Stewart replied. “I didn’t know it came in flavors! I wonder if they will come out with peppermint bark MAGA for the holidays. Or the MAGA smelling pumpkin. ”
He added, “Now, you can think that one of the richest men in the world who is controlling one of the most powerful places in the world could be a means of what some people think is election interference.” You people are stupid, stupid. You disgust me. Election interference is what Mark Zuckerberg did. ”
The actor recalled the 2016 and 2020 elections, when it was Trump who accused Zuckerberg of meddling in the election. He then doubled down on what Musk is giving his followers to register swing state voters. Trump, apparently, doesn’t think Musk’s behavior is important as an intervention. But you know what? “Oh, come on! Is it election interference?” Stewart said. “Perhaps election interference, but you must be warned that you are being played by Sebastian Stan.”
After recounting various election meddling from Mr. Trump, Stewart played a clip of Musk saying the Left wants to take away free speech.
“Elon, weren’t you watching another show?” Stewart replied. “A movie that Trump doesn’t like is going to be sued. A tech mogul he doesn’t like, he wants to be jailed. It’s not free speech if only Trump admirers do it without consequences. That’s not how it works. It doesn’t work that way. I don’t see how his support for free speech is worth it. I don’t.”
He then played a part of Musk saying, “But at least the Constitution remains strong and is there to make sure we have the First Amendment. The Second Amendment is there to make sure we have the First Amendment.”
“Guns don’t protect our free speech,” Stewart replied. “Our free speech is protected by the judicial privilege established by the Constitution. It is not based on threats of violence. It depends on elections, organizing referendums, administrative processes. Our social contract provides many, many ways to resolve these issues and allows the parties to be heard and judged. Guns, as far as I can tell, seem to be the most effective deterrents to the speech of people holding guns.
The owner continued, “It’s a tool of intimidation, and one that I think is being asked for unnecessarily and recklessly. Because some people in your crowd thought they might have been shadow banned by Facebook. I mean, for God’s sake, you guys are in Butler, Pennsylvania. The whole reason you’re here is because some crazy person with an AR-15 tried to completely challenge his view of free speech in this country. That’s why you’re here. The whole point of society is that guns don’t choose. I would choose at this time not to trade with a government that provides me with many remedies for my concerns, legal or illegal, for a situation where my rights are determined by a majority of members of the military who agree with me. “
